Study, Study, Study, and More Studying!

Hola Brothers!

My name is Jessicah Saldana, I am a Junior music education major at the University of Houston.  I crossed into the Beta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in the Spring of 2011. Oooweee do I feel old but there are other brothers who are older than me and still enrolled in school!

This week so far has been hectic, for me at least.  I’ve had a test every day since Wednesday which resulted in me not going home at all!  I stayed the night with my bros over the week so I can study efficiently and attempt to make a good grade on my tests.  In order to pass tests you have to study, Study, STUDY!

On Monday, we had our A La Prrrresto rush event where we have a HUGE FEAST of spaghetti, which was very delicioso!  Compliments to the chefs!  After we eat, all the brothers get to meet the rushees individually for 2 ½ minutes, and after those 2 ½ minutes are up the brothers move on to another rushee and this continues until all the brothers have met all of them.  It was great to get the opportunity to meet all the rushees!

It has been 2 weeks since we have had a football game, so let us all pray that our Cougars will show Rice who is BOSS!  Beta Sigma is always proudly serving and having fun doing so, as well as ALWAYS STRIVING FOR THE HIGHEST!  We hope you continue to keep up with Beta Sigma on our blog page and updates of what the 4-1-1 is for the week!

AEA Always and Forever,

Brother Jessicah Saldana

The Rush Season Has Begun!

Hello Brothers!

My name is Tori, I am a sophomore music education major here at the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) and crossed into the Beta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in Spring 2012. Needless to say, I am extremely excited for this school year!

Beta Sigma has been fairly busy with the start of marching band and rush events. We started out the year with, of course, the traditional Freebird’s/Amy’s Ice Cream event with the Tau chapter of Tau Beta Sigma and an overwhelming number of people showed up! The place was empty when we arrived and by the time everyone had food and began their feast, it was nearly filled. It was great just to meet freshmen or new members that are outside of my section and learn about them.

On Monday, we held our own Game Night and, again, we had a great turn out! Nearly EVERYONE went outside to the courtyard to play Flag Football and others battled it out in Super Smash Bros. Melee on the vintage GameCube. First I felt really at home just relaxing with my Brothers, playing some video games, and meeting new people I didn’t meet previously!

So far, Beta Sigma has been off to a great start! Even though our Cougars are 0-2 right now, we’re still serving our band and its members, shaping the band service experience, and having fun! Please continue following us through this process of growth!

Love you all and forever AEA,
Brother Victoria Hitz
